Gilman, Connor lead litigation seminar for corporate counsel
BOSTON (Oct. 14, 2011) – Pamela S. Gilman and Frank Connor recently presented a seminar to in-house lawyers on litigation strategies and tactics as part of an education series sponsored by the New England Corporate Counsel Association.
The program – entitled “Successful Litigation Strategies: Getting Results Without Breaking the Bank” – offered practical tips on how corporate counsel can effectively manage lawsuits within budget.
After describing a hypothetical potential lawsuit against a company, Gilman and Connor facilitated and led lively group discussions on the ethical, strategic and tactical issues in-house counsel need to consider, such as attorney-client privilege, liability insurance, discovery concerns, and working with outside counsel.
Gilman and Connor also provided insights on the effective use of mediation, as well as the critical importance of preparing employee witnesses to testify precisely and with confidence.
“We were pleased to have the opportunity to share our collective litigation experience with this sophisticated audience of corporate counsel,” Gilman said.
Connor added: “The distinguished group of lawyers made for a provocative, engaging discussion on the often challenging issues in-house counsel must contend with when managing their clients’ litigation matters.”
